Grant Seeking: It’s Not Magic!

Description/ Content: 6 hours of lecture, interaction among participants, coalition building/networking, powerpoint and exercises regarding the grant seeking process using United Way America model.

Who Should Attend: Staff, board and volunteers of all organizations interested in learning more about grant seeking or refreshing grant seeking skills, especially those involved in ecology and/or housing as well as social workers, counselors, nurses, social service providers and others interested in fundraising and grants.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Trainee will recognize what a grant is.
  • Trainee will understand the grant seeking process, a model for proposal development and tips for writing a fundable proposal.
  • Trainee will learn the “3 Rs” of fundraising and grant seeking.
  • Trainee will understand how to develop a winning proposal.
  • Trainee will experience how to write goals, activities, inputs, outputs and outcomes.
  • Trainee will understand ways to find funding and resources.
